There’s Opera.

It was amazingly quick to download, install and get going. The whole process leaves you with an impression that it’s lightweight and efficient. Once you fire up the browser, it has a fresh feel about it, in addition to providing a fast browsing experience even when there are a good number of tabs open.

Most of us have loved Firefox since the day it saved us from Internet Explorer. It’s always surfed like a dream but in the last few months, it seems to have got more sluggish and even closed down a few times. When you have 20 to 30 tabs open across a few windows and your browser decides to crash, you tend to blame the browser, although you probably shouldn’t have that many open in the first place.

Like it or not, when a brand doesn’t keep up to it’s perfect past performance, such as Tiger Woods, there may be irreparable repercussions.

We’ll all still use FireFox but it has lost one of the ultimate pillars of its brand to us – namely, that ‘there was no need to look for an alternative’. When it crashes on you more than once, there’s a need.

Treat yourself to a new browser now:

You’ll see it for yourself in less than 5 minutes – Click here to download Opera (yes, it’s free!)

Opera Software also offers a range of other software and business solutions:

Opera Mini 4.2

Opera Unite

Business Solutions

Opera Mini 5 beta 2

Opera Mobile for smartphones

My Opera

About Opera Software

Opera started in 1994 as a research project inside Norway’s largest telecom company, Telenor. Within a year, it branched out into an independent development company named Opera Software ASA.

Today, Opera Software develops the Opera Web browser, a high-quality, multi-platform product for a wide range of platforms, operating systems and embedded Internet products – including Mac, PC and Linux computers, mobile phones and PDAs, game consoles, and other devices like the Nintendo Wii, DS, Sony Mylo, and more.

The significant of keywords in website titles and domain names.

The Search: We conducted a simple Google search with the keywords ‘niche marketing’ in order to get an idea of the top 50 to 100 sites listed for the phrase. The results listed below are about 90-95% accurate in reflecting the search results, as we omitted listings from major sources such as Wikipedia.

Interesting SEO points to note:

Titles: There is a cluster of related sites (refer below: BOLDED) in approximately Page 2 to 3 using the same targeted keywords ‘niche marketing’ at the start of their titles.

Domain names: In addition, you may be interested to know that 6 out of the 8 BOLDED listings have domain names beginning with the keywords ‘niche marketing’.

Evidently, the results show that having your targeted keywords in your domain name AND blog or website title has a significantly positive impact on your site’s rankings in Google’s Search Engine Results Pages.

Hosting solutions are a dime a dozen. So, how do paid photo hosting companies exist in an environment where there are so many free photo hosts such as PhotoBucket, Picasa and Flickr?

The answer appears to lie in specializing to target a particular segment of the market. In this case, it’s web hosting & related services for professional photographers and the growing market for DSLR hobbyists.

Here are some observations:

The Market – Web design, hosting and ecommerce services for pro and semi-pro photographers is a niche market that has massive potential as the digital photography industry grows with continual technological developments.

The Niche – By offering solutions that solve the inherent limitations which the free hosting providers operate under, these pro Photo Hosting services have addressed the needs of moderate to heavy duty photo storage users.

The Marketing – In looking through the list of features offered that free sites don’t, you’ll notice that technically, it’s nothing special. Marketing seems to be the fundamental driver.

The Branding – Brands are essential in influencing the consumer who is flooded with choices only a click away. The majority of their customers are probably paying for the service because of the superior offerings compared to the free hosts. However, much has to be said about the value of having a vertically focused brand that your niched audience can directly identify with and relate to.

Niche Marketing – Web hosting is one of the most innovative Internet-based businesses due to the highly competitive nature of the industry. By identifying a niche market, positioning a strong brand, and targeting their audience directly, the paid photo hosting companies are a good example of a Massive Niche marketing business in practice.

Now Go identify a niche, position yourself and target that audience!

What’s your niche?

Everyone knows that you can upload and share your photos at an ever-growing list of free photo hosting providers without having to whip out your credit card.

Paid photo hosts have traditionally survived by offering larger storage, bigger bandwidth and better user features. But now that we’re in the era of unlimited storage and bandwidth, are they offering much else?

Here are some details from SmugMug:

Great things SmugMug offers that free sites don’t:

* No ads or promotions surrounding your photos.
* Unlimited storage and traffic.
* Ability to retrieve your photos anytime.
* No requirement for your visitors to register.
* No threat of losing your photos if you don’t buy prints.
* No reducing resolution of your photos like at free sites.
* No “free for a few photos, expensive for more” plans like Picasaweb’s.
* Ability to view big, clear photos.
* Gorgeous themes to personalize your galleries.
* Full-screen slideshows.
* Real, knowledgeable & friendly humans to answer your emails quickly.
* More safety for your photos. Pay sites rarely close; many free sites—even from Yahoo, HP, Canon and Microsoft—have closed.

Standard: $39.95/year
Power: $59.95/year
Pro: $149.95/year

What’s Your Opinion on the Package?

Try asking a few different people this question and you’re likely to get varied replies.

Internet industry practitioners and people who expect things to be free (yes, they do offer a Free Trial), are likely to view the SmugMug offering to be expensive.

On the other hand, photographers who want piece of mind that their site is in the hands of a specialist photography website company may find this offer to be a bargain, considering that the cost of the best package is only under US$15 per month.

The real question is – who’s the target market?

Some people can spend hours or even days rewriting their title, description and first post for a new blog. An easier alternative is to just get stuck-in with those first ten posts.

So why do we say the first 10 posts?

In most blog themes, it takes at least 5 to 10 posts in order for you to be able to see most of the body, form and structure of how the site will look. In other words, the template needs content.

Having the goal of doing 10 posts may also help you to churn out that first post compared to the scenario where there’ll only be one featured post and hence all the pressure will be on it.

The mindset of completing 10 posts will allow you to briefly touch on different areas that the blog will cover, instead of over concentrating on a particular topic. This will give you a better overview of the project to assist in the important early planning stage.

Tip: If you’re not sure what to write about, one common strategy is for new bloggers to share about their experience in starting a new blog.

Tip 2: Share info that will be useful to your reader. This does not include walking your dog or what you ate for dinner.

In Hollywood, it’d be “What’s your dream – everybody’s gotta dream!”. Here, at Internet Marketing Land, it’s “What’s your Niche? Everybody’s got a Niche!”.

To succeed in making money online, or offline, you need a special angle, one that provides you with a unique edge over your competitors to do it cheaper, faster and better than the best out there.

Here’s a useful 3 step guide:

Mindset: Acknowledge that you need a unique advantage to succeed

Reality: Understand your personal areas of expertise, strength and interest

Execution: Identify profitable niche markets with a massive potential

It’s tempting to run through the list with a quick:

‘Mindset’ – ok, i got that.
‘Reality’ – oh yes, i know what i can and cannot do
‘Execution’ – alright, now tell me how to make money

It’s worth noting that:

The three points mentioned are not really a check list to be ticked off in a sequencial order.

They are tools (or rules) to guide you when making decisions during the search for a niche business opportunity that suits you.

It is useful to reflect on each guideline with reference to the others as the combination often provides new deeper insights into yourself.

Unlike your blog title or first post, this is an area (your Niche!) where you’d be wise to spend a significant amount of time to reflect and analyze about where you should dedicate your limited resources.

This site was going to be an Internet Marketing blog called ‘Niche Internet Marketing Business Opportunities’, until we came to our senses.

The original title just yelled “Quelle Horreur!” to us and this is why we changed it to something a little more subtle to reflect our brand.

Identity: ‘Niche Internet Marketing Business Opportunities’ is NOT what we want our brand to be all about or perceived to be. Although lots of content in theblog will cover the topic of ‘making money online’ and internet bizopps, we wanted to have a greater breadth from the outset.

Keywords: Scary keywords on their own, let alone in that combination. It’s probably wrong when all the keywords are too right, some SEO guy said.

Positioning: We didn’t want to be another Internet Marketing blog or have the keywords ‘internet marketing’ in the title, nor ‘business opportunities’.

So, we improved it to ‘MassiveNames.com – Targeting profitable Niche Markets with a Massive Potential’ … vague, open-ended and possibly describes what we do.

Update: It’s since been refined to “Profitable Niche Markets with a Massive Potential”

If you read too much into SEO copywriting, you may find it hard to describe what your blog’s about, as the conflicting do’s and don’ts reduce you to an endless rewrite of your title.

We’ve managed to confirm ours but if you’re getting stuck here and spending too long on it, move on. You can always come back to it once you’ve written a few posts and added more content to your new blog.

Here are the choices that we had:

Original version: ‘Niche Internet Marketing Business Opportunities’

Short Version: ‘Targeted Markets with a Big Audience’

Long Version: ‘Targeted Marketing and the Monetization of profitable Niche Markets with a Massive Audience’

Final Selection: Targeting profitable Niche Markets with a Massive Audience.

Our site title: “MassiveNiche.com – Targeting profitable Niche Markets with a Massive Audience”

If there’s one word to sum up what we’re about, it’s probably ‘marketing’. Ironically, that’s not in the Title and we somehow felt that it may be a good idea.
